Ending of "Thing Fall Apart"

I think Okonkwo lost all hope! He vowed to never be like his father in anyway. He had dreams to become a lord of the clan and when it was shattered with the accidental killing he didn’t feel right he didn’t know what to do so his work ethic was not the same he basically gave up on life and in turn it ate him up on the inside and gave him suicidal thoughts. He acted on those thought, which I do not think is right! He should have used his life as leverage to get what he wanted! I don't think they should have got other people to dispose of the body they should have left him hanging there. If I was the commissioner I would not have honored the clan’s request to help the other clan, if they wanted it done they should have done it themselves and left tradition alone. Because they saw what it drove Okonkwo to do!!!!!

Review of "Gettin Grown" from Peers

Britainy Willianms- wrote about how the film started off slow and how hard it was to stay focused. she stated that the film taught a moral lesson of how to handle disipining your child while doing it in a way that they will understand and help the mature.

Autumn Chanel- gave a great review of the movie. She said many things other people said but actually enjoyed the movie giving her own unique review she stated that his "12th birthday symbolized him becoming mature" because of all of the errands he had to do.

Yolanda- was great because she showed that the movie has a perverse meaning. showing the older generation what you ngsters have to go thriugh form peer pressure to all of the obsticle we have to go through just to make it to another day!

Blog# 5 Research Question

My Question is a little long but here it is: What does Douglass mean when he says "Slavery corrupts slave owners"?

I went to www.history.rochester.edu/class/douglass/part1.html for information and read the book and interpreted it!

I think this quote means that white people are not so mean and hateful until they surcome to societies pressure of becoming a slave holder:
One of the examples Frederick gives to depict the damaging effects of slavery on slaveholders is Sophia Auld. She went through a major transformation from nice, virtuous woman in to a corrupt human being. Since Douglas was her first slave she didn't know how to treat slaves (or the normal way society treated them). She was a vry kind, affectionate person treating Douglass like an actual human being allowing him to become educated. She then listen to her husband who discourages this by saying education ruins slaves. After this conversation she to treat Douglas like property an screamed when she would caught Douglas reading a book.

Narrative of Fred. Chap. 10

I was'nt really feeling this book until this chapter! The previous chapters were a bit dry and unentertaining. But when i read Chapter 10 i know why Dr.Shattucks choose this Narrative. I already know this was an underdog story writen to help motivate it's readers and chapter 10 did it for me. Chapter basically showed us Douglasses transition from boy to man. It show him getting a little more respect! Before the fight with Mr. Covey Douglass was basocally being bullied and ran over by Covey but after the fight even though Covey claimed to have won the fight Douglas showed him who the boss really was and put Covey in his place. The other thing taht got my attention was the masters haveing the slaves drink heavily on the christmas break to keep them in line and form wanting the gain freedom. i was also proud that douglas was getting paid for woking, even though he had to turn his wages over to master. another thing that made me mad was when someone told about the plan to escape and they did not tell the readers who the sinth was. it was wrong that they kept douglas longer because he was the master mind in the plan. and lastly i felt a sense accomplishment for myself when he started to teach the others slaves to read. i felt this was because i want to accomplish something likr that, this year in Dr. Shattucks class which is to get myself together and pass the class with atleast an B :-).
